The Professional Science Master’s in Cybersecurity provides professionals with specialized knowledge in cybersecurity and related skillsets to meet the demands and challenges of economic and infrastructure security in a high-technology society. The curriculum emphasizes both fundamental knowledge in current cybersecurity practices and management/leadership abilities.

Student Learning Outcomes


  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge in computer networking, security, and cryptography for industry
  • Integrate principles and techniques of risk analysis, project planning, and change management in the development of information security strategies
  • Describe how to provide message privacy, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation using network security practices and infrastructure hardening techniques
  • Integrate project development skills in producing a security system
  • Function effectively as a member or a leader on a technical team
  • Address professional and ethical responsibilities including a respect for diversity
  • Be lifelong learners in the cybersecurity environment

Admissions Requirements


• Completed application and $25 application fee (form available at www.pennwest.edu/apply).

• Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.00 or higher from computing disciplines such as computer science, computer information systems, information technology, computer engineering, electrical engineering or mathematics as indicated by official transcripts from an accredited undergraduate institution. Students with a GPA below 3.00 or a degree outside the areas listed may apply for conditional admission.

• Prerequisite courses (if applicable) passed with a C or better grade.
