The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre degree is a flexible program, offering the traditional degree or coupling concentrations in either Design & Entertainment Technology or Musical Theatre. No matter the path you choose, you will begin to hone your craft in your first semester. Through your journey, you will dig deeply into your theatre studies, balancing them with a broad general education component while emphasizing collaboration, time management, self-motivation, and empathy. Graduating with our Bachelor of Arts In Theatre degree prepares you for entry-level professional positions, graduate study, or a path of your own design.

Student Learning Outcomes


Theater, BA Program Level Outcomes

  • Ability to think conceptually and critically about text, performance, and production 
  • Understanding of process from playwrighting through production 
  • Describe a wide selection of theatre repertory including the principal eras, genres, and cultural sources 
  • Understanding of procedures and approaches for realizing a wide variety of theatrical styles 
  • Ability to develop and defend informed judgments about theatre

Theater, No Concentration Outcomes

  • Ability and proficiency in technical skills required in areas of performance, production, playwrighting or other specific areas of interest
  • Intermediate to advanced competence in one or more theatre specializations in creation, performance, scholarship or teaching
  • Presentation skills including resume and audition package/portfolio

Design & Entertainment Technology Concentration Outcomes

  • Ability and proficiency in technical skills required in areas of design and entertainment technology
  • Competence in one or more specializations in design and entertainment technology
  • Presentation skills including resume portfolio

Musical Theater Concentration Outcomes

  • Ability and proficiency in technical skills required in areas of performance, production, playwrighting or other specific areas of interest
  • Intermediate to advanced competence in one or more theatre specializations in creation, performance, scholarship or teaching
