Non-Discrimination Statement

Pennsylvania Western University  of Pennsylvania is committed to providing equal access to all individuals and prohibiting any form of discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, age, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, pregnancy, genetic information, disability, status as a veteran, or any other characteristic prohibited under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other pertinent state and federal laws and regulations. Title IX Information

Pennsylvania Western University is committed to creating an environment free of Sexual Misconduct for all members of its University community. Sexual Misconduct includes Sexual Harassment which encompasses quid pro quo sexual harassment, hostile environment sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Accordingly, Pennsylvania Western University will not tolerate any form of Sexual Misconduct and Policy HR001: Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedure works to ensure the University’s employees, students, and other members of the University community are not subjected to Sexual Misconduct in any form. The University offers many resources for addressing complaints of Sexual Misconduct. Amy Salsgiver, Executive Director of Compliance and Title IX, serves as the University’s Title IX Coordinator. Employee Reporting Requirements Under Title IX

Pennsylvania Western University and its employees are committed to assuring a safe and productive educational environment for all students. In order to meet this commitment and to comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and guidance from the Office for Civil Rights, Title IX requires all University Officials, Volunteers and Employees (including student employees) to report incidents of Sexual Misconduct of which they become aware to the Title IX Coordinator/designee, unless they serve in a role that makes such reports privileged or are identified as a Confidential Employee.  Information about Confidential Employees can be found at  Title IX | PennWest. This information will only be shared with the Title IX Coordinator, who is the individual on campus designated to respond to reports of Sexual Misconduct. While the Title IX Coordinator is not a confidential source of support, they will address matters reported to them with sensitivity and will keep your information as private as possible.

 

Additionally, employees are obligated to report sexual violence or any other abuse of a student who was, or is, a child (a person under 18 years of age) when the abuse allegedly occurred, to the person designated in the University’s Protection of Minors Policy.
