FREN 3440 - The Age of French Realism
Credit Hours: 3
This course surveys the evolution of French culture during the Age of Realism; including the Franco-Prussian War, positivism & its aftermath. This period encompasses the dictatorship of Napoleon III, a monarchy marked by material success among the middle class & by disappointment & pessimism among thinkers, writers, & artists. Taught in English.
