GEOL 3310 - Introduction to Mineralogy and Petrology
Credit Hours: 4
An overview of the fundamentals of mineralogy with application towards the study of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Emphasis is given to identification and classification systems and an understanding of formation processes and tectonic settings. Macroscopic, microscopic, and chemical analyses are applied using hand samples and thin sections.
Prerequisite: GEOL 1500
