CSD 2000 - Communication Development & Disorders in Multilingual Students


Credit Hours: 3

This course explores the role of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in supporting students from different cultural or linguistic backgrounds in the school setting. Students will examine second language acquisition theory to differentiate typical development from communication disorders. Emphasis is placed on culturally responsive assessment practices and evidence-based interventions tailored to students with speech and/or language disorders. Collaborative practices with teachers and related service providers in the schools will also be addressed.

Prerequisite: CSD 1500   (requires a minimum grade higher than a D-)
