The BSBA Economics is a STEM program that prepares learners to apply quantitative tools and micro- and macroeconomic theory to understand decision-making, solve problems and evaluate outcomes in business, government, non-profit and international sectors.

Student Learning Outcomes
BSBA Program Level Outcomes - Demonstrate proficiency in foundational concepts of functional business areas
- Exhibit critical thinking skills for the collection, analysis, and application of data and concepts
- Display cultural competence for ethical, sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative leadership practices including a global perspective
- Effectively communicate in oral, written, visual, and digital formats
Economics Major Outcomes - Solve complex problems by applying microeconomics and macroeconomics models and methodologies
- Demonstrate ability to form a research question, create testable hypotheses, and apply appropriate statistical tools to draw conclusions about hypotheses
- Evaluate the validity of information and data
- Effectively communicate results of an empirical analysis (in written and presentation formats, using appropriate data visualization techniques)
Curriculum Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 42 credits in advanced coursework per the PennWest graduation requirements policy. General Education
At least two disciplines must be represented within each of the following areas: Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Tech. For example: Students cannot have all courses with a prefix of BIOL in Natural Sciences and Tech. You must take courses from at least two different discipline areas (ie. BIOL and CHEM). Program Notes
Students can choose a minor in Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Global Business, Human Resource Management, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing. 9 credits from these minors overlap with the Business Core courses, so only 12 credits are required to complete the minor. Students can choose the Spanish for Professions certificate (12 credits). Other minors or certificates may be chosen but will require more credits (which may apply to General Education or free electives). Students with dual majors or dual degrees are not required to complete a minor. |
