The Pennsylvania Western University Associate of Science in Nursing Program prepares nurses to exhibit integrity and ethical behavior and to provide holistic client-centered care with dignity and respect for diversity. The two-year Associate of Science in Nursing Program provides educational experiences that promote Client-centered care, Interprofessional Partnerships and Collaboration, Nursing Knowledge and Scholarship, Quality Improvement & Safety, Informatics and Health Care Technology, and Professionalism and Leadership Development. The program encourages students to aspire towards excellence and provides the graduate with a foundation for further education. Upon completing the program, the graduate will be eligible for the national RN licensure examination.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Client-centered care: Recognize the client or designee as the source of control and partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care.
- Interprofessional Partnerships and Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively, utilizing shared decision making within nursing and inter-professional teams.
- Nursing Knowledge and Scholarship: Integrate research and theory into current evidence-based nursing practice.
- Quality Improvement & Safety: Recognize safety and quality measures and implement nursing strategies to create a safe environment for care delivery
- Informatics and Health Care Technology: Use information technology to improve client outcomes.
- Professionalism and Leadership Development: Cultivate a professional nursing identity embodying accountability, self-reflection, and leadership.
Total Credits: 61
Depending on the program of study, students may need to complete additional credits to ensure the total credit hour requirement is met. |
