Forensic Accounting, Minor

In the forensic accounting minor, students will develop the skills to identify and respond to fraud risk within an organization.  Furthermore, students will obtain the ability to design, conduct and interpret basic data driven tests in a fraud investigation and effectively communicate the results of those tests. Given the prevalence of fraud in the global environment, students of any major will benefit from this minor.

  • Identify fraud risk factors and explain how those risk factors impact the risk of financial fraud.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls within an organization.
  • Communicate findings in a professional, appropriate manner using various forms of media and technology.

Curriculum Requirements


Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy.
