Our nationally accredited athletic coaching program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful coach. Students will learn the national standards for athletic coaching to ensure that they will provide quality training and have a positive impact on their athletes. Students will gain the fundamental knowledge, skills, and coaching experience that is essential to work with youth, interscholastic and intercollegiate athletes.

Student Learning Outcomes

Develop competencies to become effective instructors, communicators, and motivators. -
Create and develop organizational strategies including leadership, instructional planning for individual and team settings, and time management. -
Construct an athletic coaching philosophy and coaching objectives that will demonstrate a commitment to athletes who are diverse in maturation, cultural heritage, gender, sexual orientation, and abilities. -
Apply the physiological principles and applications for training athletes. -
Illustrate professional and ethical behavior that is reflective of athletic coaching. Admission Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy. |
