Personal Financial Planning, Minor


The Minor in Personal Financial Planning covers topics, including risk management and insurance, federal individual income taxation, investments, retirement planning, and estate planning at a high cognitive level and makes students eligible to take the CFP® Exam.  BSBA Finance & Personal Financial Planning Concentration students are not eligible to enroll in this minor.

Student Learning Outcomes


  • Integrate financial theories, methods, and concepts to achieve personal financial goals.
  • Evaluate how to best maximize efficiency through effective risk management, capital allocation, and management of resources.
  • Develop and communicate sound personal financial planning recommendations through an analysis of financial and market related information.

Admissions Requirements


  • All students, except for those enrolled in the BSBA Finance & Personal Financial Planning major, are eligible to enroll in this minor.

Curriculum Requirements


Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy.
