Chemistry, Minor

The chemistry minor provides students with broad training in chemistry. Students receive hands-on training in the theory, techniques, and technology of the discipline to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills common to the natural sciences.

Curriculum Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy.

Required Chemistry Foundation-level Course (4 credits)
CHEM 2200 - Organic Chemistry I Credit Hours: 3
and
CHEM 2205 - Organic Chemistry I Laboratory Credit Hours: 1
OR
CHEM 3400 - Quantitative Chemical Analysis Credit Hours: 3
and
CHEM 3405 - Quantitative Chemical Analysis Laboratory Credit Hours: 1
or
CHEM 3415 - Intermediate Chemistry II Lab Credit Hours: 1
Elective Chemistry Foundation/Advanced-level Courses (7+ credits)

Any combination of courses above the CHEM2200+ level,* Combination of credits must include 6+ credits in lecture courses and 1+ credit(s) in laboratory courses.

*CHEM2010 and CHEM3010 courses do not qualify for credits in the chemistry minor.
