A minor in Arabic provides students with a solid foundation of the Arabic language and culture, and arms them with critical and problem-solving skills as well as cross-cultural literary, which they can use to market themselves and obtain gainful employment.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students demonstrate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills at the beginner to intermediate level of Arabic, consistent with the National Standards for Foreign Language Education. -
Students identify and analyze literary, historical and cultural products of the Arabic-speaking world within a broad historical framework. -
Students demonstrate critical thinking skills in comparing cultural products and practices of the Arabic-speaking world with their own cultures. Curriculum Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy. |
