The Art History Minor encourages the student to develop a deeper understanding of the visual culture and context of a range of historical periods, media, and cultural perspectives that will serve to enrich and broaden their performance in their major program.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will “obtain, interpret, and use knowledge, facts, and data” as evidence in order to analyze and interpret visual images.
- Students will be able to articulate the relationships both orally and in writing between formal expression, subject matter, and social-historical context of works of art using both visual and written evidence.
- Students will be able to recognize, analyze, and discuss how interactions among diverse individuals and societies and across various civilizations, cultures, and time periods shape various worldviews and artistic expression.

Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of advanced standing per the PennWest minor policy. |
