A certificate in Programming Essentials allows students to learn the basics of programming. This allows students who are interested in computer code to explore that interest and start obtaining a skill that is incredibly in-demand in today’s job market, while not making it their main focus of study. This certificate pairs well with almost any major, as almost every major can benefit from technological literacy and basic programming skills.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
- Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
Curriculum Requirements
Available to any major except CMAC, CMIS, CMSC.
