The Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology Management is a fully online program designed to equip graduates with essential skills in analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. Students will develop the ability to apply safe, effective, and ethical techniques in leadership, supervision, and management across diverse industries. The program emphasizes adaptability to emerging technologies and effective communication with both professional and non-professional audiences. Additionally, internship and research opportunities provide practical, real-world experience that enhances learning beyond the classroom.

Student Learning Outcomes


  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of key subject matter relevant to the field.

  • Use a variety of techniques and methods to efficiently plan and manage production, projects, and services.

  • Apply knowledge, skills, and modern tools to a wide range of technology management activities.

  • Utilize knowledge of mathematics, science, applied engineering, and technology to solve problems and apply principles and methodologies effectively.

  • Communicate clearly through written, oral, and visual means in both technical and non-technical settings, and effectively use appropriate technical literature.

  • Recognize and address professional and ethical responsibilities, demonstrating respect for diversity.

  • Understand the broader societal and global impacts of applied technology solutions.

Curriculum Requirements


Students must complete a minimum of 42 credits in advanced coursework per the PennWest graduation requirements policy. 

General Education


At least two disciplines must be represented within each of the following areas:  Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Tech.  For example:  Students cannot have all courses with a prefix of BIOL in Natural Sciences and Tech.  You must take courses from at least two different discipline areas (ie. BIOL and CHEM).

Required Courses


Admission to the Applied Technology Management program requires a journeyman’s certificate in a technical trade, military technical training/certifications, or an associate degree in technology from an accredited institution may satisfy the specialization area.

Elective Courses


Total Credits: 120


Depending on the program of study, students may need to complete additional credits to ensure the total credit hour requirement is met.
