The Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education prepares preschool teachers and assistants for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the area of preschool education. Upon completion of 60 credit hours, the candidate is granted an Associate of Science degree in Preschool education.

- Candidates will apply knowledge of child development and learning in context to create a caring community of learners (NAEYC Standard 1).
- Candidates will engage in reciprocal partnerships with families and fostering community connections (NAEYC Standard 2).
- Candidates will observe, document, and assess children’s development and learning (NAEYC Standard 3).
- Candidates will utilize instructional strategies to promote children’s development and learning (NAEYC Standard 4).
- Candidates will apply knowledge in the content areas to plan and implement an engaging curriculum designed to meet goals that are important and meaningful for children, families, and the community in the present as well as the future (NAEYC Standard 5).
