Sport Management, BS Program Level Outcomes
- Students will be able to think critically and solve sport-related industry problems to add value to existing sport organizations
- Students will develop effective communication skills: interpersonal, oral, and written
- Students will be able to articulate their professional preparedness
- Students will be able to work effectively in a team environment to develop goals, complete tasks, measure progress, and provide a sense of leadership.
- Students will communicate the importance of sport as a medium for integrating ethical decision making, race and gender issues, religious, and disability interests in society
- Students will be competent in applying marketing, sales, financial, and legal principles to sport industry.
- Students will recognize the importance of professional and ethical obligations, cultivating an advanced understanding of global awareness and diversity.
- Students will understand the effective use of current technology trends as it relates to the sport industry today.
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the governance and organizational oversight that exists within the sport industry.
- Students will be able to effectively apply knowledge and skills learned throughout the curriculum in real world settings.
Professional Golf Management Concentration Outcomes
- Students will be able to think critically and solve sport-related industry problems to add value to existing sport organizations
- Students will develop effective communication skills: interpersonal, oral, and written
- While on each required internship, PGM students will demonstrate career specific knowledge and skills along with industry acceptable personality and professionalism
- Students will be able to work effectively in a team environment to develop goals, complete tasks, measure progress, and provide a sense of leadership.
- Research existing literature on an area relating to golf equipment, golf fitness and/or golf teaching methodologies
- Conduct hypothesis testing in the areas of golf equipment, golf fitness or golf teaching methodologies and report results in writing
- PGM students will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and techniques needed to successfully construct a golf club from component stage to finished product ensuring the proper fit and measurements for a particular customer
- Students will successfully complete the Player Development Program (PDP) requirements each semester until passing the PGA’s PAT
- To understand the symbiotic relationships which exist between individuals and departments within the golf industry
- To understand golf’s environmental impact and the importance of sustainability practices
