Students who minor in political science receive a thorough introduction to the major principles and dynamics of politics, such as the gathering and use of power by individuals, groups, and governments within and across societies. In addition, political science minors have the freedom to take specialized upper-level courses in an area of particular interest. A minor in political science is a useful and marketable addition to the education of students in any major.

Student Learning Outcomes
- Students who complete the minor will be able to evaluate the quality of sources of political information.
- Students who complete the minor will be able to apply knowledge of American politics and, depending on upper-level course selection, be able to apply knowledge of comparative and/or international politics, law and/or political theory to analyze and evaluate political conditions and issues.
- Students who complete the minor will be able to discuss political and policy problems and propose possible solutions.
