The GIS Certificate enables students to acquire a wide variety of technical and applied skills in geospatial technologies, preparing them for professional employment in areas that require expertise in the design, implementation, and analysis of spatial information. While online GIS certification helps achieve professional goals and advancement in different careers, it offers an affordable and convenient option for those with a busy schedule. This certificate helps fulfill some of the requirements for GISP, ASPRS and Esri certification programs. 

Student Learning Outcomes


  • Recognize, state essential GIS concepts, and solve spatial problems using GIS Software (ArcGIS) 
  • Identify geographic problems and how to approach it using Geospatial Technologies, and applying GIS tools to real-world problem solving 
  • Manipulate geographic and non-geographic datasets (i.e., create, edit, and modify datasets) 
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the concepts and applications of geographic analysis 

Admission Requirements


Students with the GIS Minor do not qualify for the certificate.
