Mathematics, Actuarial Science Concentration

Actuarial Science Concentration: The Concentration in Actuarial Science is an interdisciplinary program wherein students take courses in mathematics, finance, economics, accounting, and computer science. The degree prepares students for a variety of careers in the financial services sector and actuarial industries. Students are also prepared for a range of graduate programs including applied mathematics, financial mathematics, finance, and economics. This course of study helps students develop a deep knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and applications of these disciplines. Students completing the degree program have completed coursework that prepares them for the first two Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams.

At least two disciplines must be represented within each of the following areas:  Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Tech.  For example:  Students cannot have all courses with a prefix of BIOL in Natural Sciences and Tech.  You must take courses from at least two different discipline areas (ie. BIOL and CHEM).
