Students in the Corporate Communication MA are mentored by experienced faculty and have the opportunity to participate in internships that build your confidence and professional network. Upon completion of this degree, students will be prepared to advance their professional career, work with and serve others in diverse communities with dignity and respect, and understand the complexities associated with learning and communicating ethical and cultural values.

Student Learning Outcomes


  • To gain a working knowledge of the major paradigms and theories that serve as a foundation for the study of corporate communication in business and non-profit organizations. 
  • To master communication research methods to gather, analyze and interpret data, and to present findings through scholarly, corporate, and proprietary venues.  
  • To understand ethical and social responsibilities in adapting and communicating messages in applied interpersonal, organizational, intercultural, mediated, and public contexts. 
  • To conduct analyses of real-world problems, conflicts, and crises at local, national, and global levels that impact corporate communication. 
  • To develop critical thinking skills to evaluate arguments, engage in discourse, and draw conclusions as consumers of information. 
  • To become proficient in designing and conducting organizational communication audits that promote corporate effectiveness, fairness, and sustainable professional relationships. 

 

Admissions Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.00 or higher (Students with a GPA below 3.00 may apply for conditional admission)
  • Official bachelor’s degree transcript that is regionally accredited and/or recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Conditional Admission Requirements

  • Conditional Admission may be granted with the following modifications of the Regular Admissions Requirements:
    • Regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of a 2.99-2.70 will be conditionally admitted with the stipulation of earning a 3.0 GPA in the first term
    • Regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.69 and below will be reviewed for a decision once the following documentation has been received:
      • Those that have graduated 20+ years ago and are working in a related field, may submit their resume for review.  Those that have not, must complete the GRE or MAT for consideration

These credentials will be evaluated by the Departmental Admissions Committee, which will consider such factors as suitability of previous course work, undergraduate scholarship, work experience, and potential for growth as a professional in a communication management field. Any deficiencies in preparation will be cause for the prescription of prerequisite work.
