COUN 7430 - Counseling the College Student


Credit Hours: 3

This course provides a historical perspective and overview of contemporary issues impacting counseling services for students in higher education. College counselors will learn about factors that place post secondary students at-risk, including related DSM diagnoses and psychopharmacology, life experiences, and personal characteristics. Challenges associated with developmental theories within a diagnostic framework will be addressed. Current issues related to accreditation, credentialing, evaluation and future directions in college counseling will be discussed.
