NURS 6000 - Introduction to Forensic Nursing for the SANE-A / SANE-P Credit Hours: 6
This course is class one of a two class program that combines both in-person classes and online modules covering procedures of the forensic assessment and evaluation, treatment of a sexual assault injury in adults’ pediatrics, forensic concepts, documentation, evidence collection, legal aspects, and the role of each provider, from initial intervention to legal case and courtroom management. This course is designed to instruct Registered Nurses and advanced practitioners who are preparing to provide SANE services to survivors. This course is modified from the set education requirements from the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) standards for the adult, adolescent, and pediatric SANE.
Prerequisite: Must have active RN licensure
